My current business card design came from a project in my senior graphic design studio at VCU. During class one day, we were supposed to sit quietly and sketch designs, which is something I’m not too capable of. Instead, I spent the class folding up business-card sized papers into boxes and shooting them across the table as “gifts” for a girl I was trying to impress. “Trying” being the operative word. In any case, it struck me that there was no reason I couldn’t fold my actual business card somehow, and pay tribute to my then new interest in 3D fabrication. This just goes to show how goofing off can lead to great innovation.
