Occasionally, a group of people will work together to untangle something.
I made these custom stands for the collection of bats in the ceramics studio.
The sides were cut out of scrap plywood, with the shape designed to maximize material efficiency while also working to prevent the bats from toppling over.
Testing to make sure the bats lean properly.
Organized bats, at home in their new custom stands.
This wall needs a cabinet for drill bits.
Cabinets designed, built, and installed. Custom pulls and drawer slide.
Surprise! The door is a shelf.
Got a bit creative making slab molds for the ceramics department. Beveled these on the table saw with the tenon jig.
Molds for matching bowl and plate set.
The best place on the U of O campus is the Craft Center, a combination of studios for wood, metal, glass, ceramics, photography, screen printing, and fibers. Located in the basement of the Erb Memorial Union, the Craft Center offers affordable classes and open studio time to UO students and surrounding community members. For the three years that I was in grad school, I also worked as a supervisor in the wood shop there and taught a few beginning wood classes. During down time, I was sometimes commissioned to create custom wood products for the ceramics, glass, and wood studios. Craft Center, I love you, and I miss you every day.
